What is an editor writer? It’s a clumsy phrase in the minds of some. To many of use it should be rendered as a hyphenated word, as in editor-writer. The phrase “editor writer” is fairly accurate in the context of what any successful writer does. Is a writer JUST someone who puts words on a page?
Not a GOOD one. The successes in the writing field must edit their own work long before an editor gets a hold of it. Some writers decide they like the editing process better than writing, and move on to concentrate on that full time. Other editors are those who found themselves editing in spite of their love for writing; however you got there, editing is an art form that deserves more acclaim than it gets.
Editor Writer is a resource page for freelance writers and editors seeking to start or further a career in writing. There are many books and products for editors, writers, and other freelancers, and an entire galaxy of websites out there waiting for you to discover.
There is also a lot of editor writer snake oil out there. Beware of sites that are too eager to sell you memberships you don’t need for services that won’t help you. We aren’t afraid to call out the bad ones or warn you about things that are just a waste of your valuable time. We prefer to invest our energy on helpful products, sites and resources, but sometimes a particularly bad example comes along we can’t keep quiet about. We owe it to our editor writer colleagues to spread the word, good and bad.
